The old site looked like a template, and worked like one on a phone.

The firm advises clients in Curaçao, the Caribbean and the Netherlands. Its site had no mobile menu, no tap-to-call bar and small tap targets. All seven practice areas were stacked on one long page, in grey text on dark green that was hard to read.

English and Dutch articles shared one news feed, with no language switch and no link between a post and its translation. Both news cards used the same Lady Justice stock photo.

The contact page used an outdated reCAPTCHA and a placeholder FAQ that mentioned divorce and family law, which the firm may not offer.

One practice area, one page. One language, one URL.

I started with a design system of its own: Newsreader and Hanken Grotesk, a green, cream and gold palette, square images and hairline rules in place of shadows. Each of the seven practice areas got its own page with a sticky contact panel. English lives at the root and Dutch under /nl, and a language switch sends you to the same page in the other language. Claude Code built it in Astro, with almost no JavaScript, from the approved designs.

A site that reads clearly in two languages and loads fast from anywhere.

Tested on mobile on the Vercel preview, the site loads its first content in 1.8 seconds or less from every region tested, and its largest content in 2.6 seconds or less. Blocking time is at or near zero in most regions.
